Plant Technician Position Description

Position type: Full-Time

The Company

Planned Capacity (PC) is a grid energy services provider focused on expanding utility access to renewable energies through cutting edge computing facilities. Part of our mission is to support Veterans and Disabled Veterans return to the workforce through skill development. To Additionally, we enhance access to careers in technology and maintenance to those populations who are underrepresented in STEM fields.   


The Position

The Plant Technician is responsible for miscellaneous maintenance, repair, cleaning, and monitoring of facilities owned and operated by Planned Capacity. 


Specific responsibilities include: 

· Ensuring PC facilities are clean and safe at all times 

· General safety monitoring and enforcement  

· Completing assigned maintenance repair tasks including but not limited to: 

· computer cleaning, repairs and parts replacement  

· cable management  

· facility organization 

· plumbing repairs 

· basic electrical repairs  

· basic design and fabrication of miscellaneous furniture and fixtures  

· Completes errands as directed 

· On-call support as needed  

· Other duties as necessary 


Knowledge and Skills

The most competitive candidates will possess the following competencies:


Experience

Prospective applicants may have experience in janitorial, electrical, plumbing, computer repair, or basic computer programming; three years’ experience in facility maintenance and safety requirements is desired OR; 1+ years electrical maintenance OR; 3+ years understanding of computer functionality, maintenance, and repairs

Experience can be obtained in a paid or unpaid capacity.


Skills

The ideal candidate possesses strong oral and written communication skills; must have the ability to work independently and multi-task; ability to work effectively as a member of a team. 


Knowledge

Knowledge of and ability to operate miscellaneous hand tools, power tools, and equipment such as pumps, dry coolers, chillers, electrical equipment, and computer systems, desired; 


Ability to

· Maintain timely attendance to facilities

· Lift up to 30 Pounds

· Travel within region during the course of a standard workday

· Interpret written and oral instruction and seek clarification when a task is unclear 


Special Requirements

· Employees may be required to possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and may be required to drive during the performance of duties. 

· Employees may be required to attend some night or evening meetings, community events, or perform certain duties outside of regularly scheduled hours. 


Education

A high school degree or equivalent; or 1-2 year vocational training / associates degree


Substitution

A bachelor's degree or higher in a related field, military service, or equivalent experience in a related field may be substituted for directly applicable experience or education. A candidate may present similar duties in an unrelated field so long as they demonstrate transferable and applicable skill sets obtained while performing their duties.


Compensation:

Hourly rate is based on experience. 

Salaried positions start at $42,500 with lots of opportunity for internal growth and promotion.

Schedule
 

8-Hour Shift, Monday-Friday and On-Call
 

While some regional travel may be required, you will get to be home every day with few exceptions.
